Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Category Specialist located in Kapolei, Hawaii through November 7, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Position Details: Overview:
The Category Specialist position in Hawaii Refinery supports the development and implementation of Supply and Services contracts, SOW's and related processes as well as the advancement of the procurement function through development, improvement and implementation of Procurement/Supply Chain and Category Management practices.
The scope of categories managed by the Category Specialist position covers multiple types of operation, capital projects, and business functions. The Category Specialist must manage multiple contracts for suppliers performing work on-site with various levels of risk and business impact.
This position reports to the Hawaii Procurement Manager.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
1. Negotiation and preparation of contracts, amendments, statements of work, service orders with new and existing suppliers.
2. Collaborate with both Chevron and vendor legal counsels on contract review/redline negotiations.
3. Interface with Project Managers, Business Representatives, Category Managers, Category Lead and Other Stakeholders regarding contracting and purchasing issues.
4. Identify and qualify potential suppliers to participate in RFX events.
5. Facilitate the development of decision criteria and foster collaboration for effective participative sourcings.
6. Source and/or negotiate new and existing contracts as needed to respond to market business changes and business needs.
7. Document business justification for contract adjustments and present to Contract Review Committee for endorsement.
8. Assist with the creation of Annual, 3-year and Project contracting plans.
9. Apply compliance policies and practices to improve business results while maintaining positive employee relations.
10. Identify ways to improve service level agreements and reduce operating expense.
11. Assure contract preparation procedures allow for efficient use of time and sufficient use of business controls, related to Corporate, Legal and SOX requirements.
12. Form cross-functional Advanced Supplier Relationship teams with strategic and core suppliers.
13. Develop and execute joint business plans and track key performance indicators for continuous improvement.
14. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure required material and services meet specifications and are delivered on-time, in full and to the desired location.
15. Collaborate globally with Category Specialists and Managers on Category Management and Procurement best practices within Downstream, and Corporate Procurement/ Supply Chain.
Required
Qualifications:
16. BS/BA Degree in a technical or business related field such as Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing or Economics.
17. 2 years of direct petroleum refinery, procurement, contracting or supply chain experience.
18. Ability to develop should cost models and total cost of ownership models.
19. Strong written and verbal communication ability.
20. Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings with both internal stakeholders and external contractors.
21. Ability to develop a sound business case based on analyses.
Preferred
Qualifications:
22. Experience developing category strategy, category plans, Annual Contracting and Procurement Plans and identifying opportunities to optimize total cost of ownership through the supply chain optimization.
23. Experience with strategic sourcing, planning and conducting negotiations, contract formulation, measuring and managing supplier performance, SQM's, ASR's, and KPI development.
24. Demonstrated ability to conduct various types of assessments and analyses to fully understand a particular market and develop appropriate strategies for the category.
25. Understanding in Materials Management, Capital Project, and maintenance and Time Constrained (Turnaround) Procurement strategies.
26. Experience with negotiating contracts.
27. Knowledge and understanding of contract language.
28. Knowledge and understanding of Supplier Relationship Management for refining or gas/oil industry installations.
29. Knowledge about refinery operation.
